IPT on Oct 25, 2024, Manila (Public launch)
– A public launching of the IPT process on Oct. 25, 2024 took place in Manila
– Charges, testimonies and evidences may be organized thematically: the role and responsibility of IMF and World Bank in:
- Accumulation of unsustainable and illegitimate debt and corresponding impacts and implications for people, communities, environment, economies and self-determination, etc.
- The harmful impacts of conditionalities attached to access to credit, loans and debt relief (e.g., impacts of regressive fiscal policies and protection of corporate interests, etc.).
- The perpetuation and expansion of fossil fuels and its impacts to communities and the climate.
- The promotion of false and harmful “solutions” to climate change (e.g., promoting fossil gas, carbon storage and capture, etc.).
- Weakening and undermining of food systems, causing and intensifying hunger and deprivation.
- Diminishing and weakening public services, increasing the cost of public goods, commodification and privatization of social services.
- Undermining of domestic economies and exacerbation of poverty, unemployment, lowering of wages.
- Exploiting women and girls’ unvalued care work for private sector-led growth.
- Violating the rights to health, education, decent housing, food, water, living wages, a sustainable environment and other human rights.
